School of Merit is a unique, small non-denominational, non-discriminatory independent school. The school provides a challenging learning environment that enables and supports its learners to realise their potential and assists them in developing their talents.
We pride ourselves on setting high standards of conduct and a sound work ethic. Our goal is to create learners who become well balanced competent, responsible young adults ready to take in society.

National Curriculum Statement (NCS) is followed and we are an IEB registered school. The classes consist of heterogeneous groups of learners, and we are strict about the wearing of the proper uniform.
The School of Merit has adopted a Solution Focused Philosophy as the ethos of the school, which means that difficulties and challenges do not have to define a child’s future. The School of Merit is a school that inspires hope and confidence in their pupils and believes that small steps of change can and will lead to bigger changes and progress in the child’s life. The Staff at School of Merit believe that every child has the skill and capacity that can be built upon to assure a positive goal for the child. It is a school that lives its motto of “Dream, Believe and Achieve!” The School thus encourages children to control their own destiny by using their strengths and abilities positively.
The Solution Focused Ethos of the school is future orientated and goal directed. At the School of Merit we utilise the key concepts of:
• If it works, do more of it. If it doesn’t not work, do differently
• Every child is unique, resourceful and capable of change
• Working collaboratively to create solutions
• Finding ‘exceptions’ and using these as building blocks to do differently
• Big problems do not always require ‘big’ solutions
The Solution Focused approach increases children’s hope in the possibility of finding solutions and in their ability to bring change and succeed. At the school of Merit we believe in children’s ability to do differently and to reach their own goals, as well as, the goals set by the teacher.
